| I would like to know what all of you think about this. Do you think God has blessed America with riches? Christ wasn't too kind to the idea of amassing earthly riches. I'm starting to think that those riches we have are more a test than a blessing. How awesome would it be if God knew that the second we got money we would be obedient and send it where He wants it to go? | | |
| I am writing a new song and want your opinions. Listen to the background music and post a comment! God bless! | | |
| The pastor spoke on Sunday morning about God's love with relation to Christmas and the incarnation and I came to a realization - I don't understand God's love. Why does God love us? Why does He love me? Why? Yes I know that God IS love, but when I think of who I am and of who He is I am dumbfounded at His love for me. The only thing I can really do is praise Him for His love for me - with my life.
On a side note, I found a study on CNN.com (http://www.cnn.com/2006/TECH/fun.games/11/28/video.games.brain.reut/index.html) that tested people playing a violent video game for 30 minutes (they used Medal of Honor) and another group playing a nonviolent video game for 30 minutes (Need for Speed). The results were pretty interesting. The brain scans indicated that the brain's emotional center was more active with those playing the violent game and there was less activity in the brain's center for control, focus, and concentration compared to those playing the nonviolent game. Some of you aren't going to like what I'm going to say, but I will say it anyway. Most people who play shooters are going to play games more violent than Medal of Honor, such as Halo (as I have done) and for far longer than just 30 minutes (as I have also done). If after just 30 minutes of Medal of Honor has such effects on the brain, causing us to be more susceptible to conflict and fighting, what would long periods of other games do? Our culture is entertainment saturated. What is entertainment but self-pleasure? Shouldn't we be spending our time to bring pleasure to God instead of ourselves (I am guilty on this point as well)? And what about when that entertainment involves something like violence, to the point where we enjoy the violence? I would challenge all of you to submit your entertainment choices to the Lord.

What an awesome weekend! I was really happy to get 2, count 'em, 2 days off from work! So on Thursday my sister and I went over to someone's house for lunch (which was quite delicious I might add) and then they took us on a tour of the new cultural event center at MNU. Then my sister and I watched some more Star Trek that evening... (that's pretty much the story of the weekend... that we watched Star Trek in the evening). Friday we went over to the home of our adoptive family and ate brunch and later dinner, with a smattering of work and fun in between that. Then on Saturday I got to eat breakfast with a long gone dear friend and his wife and my sister and I again hung out until she left to go eat with some friends, which then provided the opportune time for me to do this: And then of course, church on Sunday! All in all - an awesome weekend. I am so thankful to God for all He's done for me - none of which I deserve. Please! Give a shout out for what you are thankful for! God bless you all. Happy Thanksgiving!
| "If I profess with the loudest voice and clearest exposition every portion of the Word of God except precisely that little point which the world and the devil are at that moment attacking, I am not confessing Christ, however boldly I may be professing Him. Where the battle rages there the loyalty of the soldier is proved; and to be steady on all the battle front besides, is mere flight and disgrace if he flinches at that point." - Martin Luther | | |
